(for carlos rojas) / 2016-2018
his name is leonel. he sells paper in the historic center of bogotá. he has been there for a while. he does not remember the exact date. something between the time the old movie theater stopped being popular and became a ruin. around, people sell scrap metal, construction materials, chemicals and food. the paper is sold in a small shop on calle catorce. it’s recycled paper. recycled and classified. it is organized in columns that reach to the ceiling. not all are the same. not all are used for the same... the white paper sheets are bought by students. the gunpowder manufacturers buy the cardboard sheets that say “el rey”. i do not know who buys the rest and leonel either. the green paper is called “formas continuas” and has accounting information from official institutions. when stacked it looks green, blue, white and yellow. leonel thinks it is worthless and does not understand why I buy it. i think it looks like a modern painting.
(a mí me recuerda la obra de carlos rojas).
