ways of forgetting is a repetitive and absurd action. i collect recycled menus from chinese restaurants across the united states. i cut them. i classify them. i stack them into objects that i put up on the wall.

 

i am drawn to these menus as aesthetic objects. i explore their colors, their designs, their materiality, and use them to create painting-like objects. in that sense the menus become both medium and subject of pictorial compositions.

 

i am also drawn to these menus as social codes.  what is hidden behind these menus? their repetition? their redundancy? in that sense the objects become codes to question larger social issues.
